How to celebrate International Dog Day

Amy Matthews |

If you haven’t heard of International Dog Day before, here are some of our top tips and ideas on how to celebrate and spoil our pets this year!

What is International Dog Day?

Also known as National Dog Day, it is a time to all come together and celebrate our pooches! Whether you’re a proud pawrent or furry fanatic, International Dog Day gives us the perfect excuse to show appreciated to our loved companions that we can’t be without.

When is International Dog Day?

Unofficially, every day is national dog day but officially, it’s celebrated every year on the 26th August!

How to celebrate?

Here are our top recommended ways to celebrate International Dog Day:

  1. Take your dog to their favourite walking spot! Give your dog to the best day ever by celebrating them and what they love to do.
  1. Bake your pup a treat! We have lots of mouth-watering recipes on our blog or on our Instagram page from biscuits to afternoon tea, we’ve got you covered!
  1. Play your dog’s favourite game with them – from fetch to tug of war!
  1. Give your dog their favourite meal or treat! You can even put this in a puzzle feeder to help take it that step further, adding some enrichment to their day.
  1. Or take your dog to their favourite shop, where they could choose a new toy to top off the day with that final bit of excitement.
  1. Organise a pet playdate! Arrange a playdate with your dog's best furry friend or take them to your local park to make new ones!

It really is all about spending quality time together!

We’d love to see you are spending National Dog Day with your companion, tag us on Instagram using @dorwest or #Dorwestdog to be featured on our page.
